St Stephen Hands On Ministry:  PADS Homeless Shelters and Meals Program.

Then, the King will say to those on His right:  “Come, you, who are blessed by my Father.  Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.  For I was hungry and you gave me food…”  Matthew 26: 34-35.

The Hands on Ministry started when we began serving the PADS Emergency Homeless Shelter at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Matteson in 2005.  Later, we also served the PADS Shelter at St. Emeric Church in Country Club Hills.  

Around 2010, the Hands On Ministry expanded to include the Catholic Charities Meals Program at St. Anne Church in Hazel Crest. Both of these programs shut down due to COVID.

The Hands On Ministry now offers a Carry Out Meals Program at St. Stephen each Friday and provides a monthly dinner to PADS homeless guests who are now sheltered in a local hotel.
