Our Christian life is an ongoing jouney. On this journey, we often wander off course. In the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we celebrate God's mercy and God's willingness to forgive us for our sins and failures to live as children of God. The Sacrament of Reconciliation recognizes our honest acknowledgement of our need for God's mercy and our desire for ongoing conversion.

First Reconciliation for Children
First Reconciliation is received during second grade prior to First Holy Eucharist. The Sacrament of First Reconciliation is received on a Saturday morning, usually in December. The children are prepared as part of their religion class at Cardinal Bernardin school or through Religious Education classes offered here at St. Stephen.
In the family, children learn attitudes of forgivenss and sin and experience God's love and forgiveness through the love of their parents and families. Parental participation is essential for our children to understand the Sacrament of Reconciliation
, therefore, one parent preparation meeting is required.
