Being a sacristan is a great way to serve our church and our clergy and actively participate in the Mass. As a sacristan you will help the clergy prepare for liturgical celebrations. Some responsibilities include readying the hosts, wine, water, sacred vessels and cloths for celebration of the Eucharist. The sacristan will also make sure that all ministry positions are filled and that the candles are lit before Mass. After Mass the sacristan gathers the sacred vessels, cleans them and returns them to their proper place in the sacristy.
There are no requirements to become a sacristan. All we need are people of faith who are willing to serve before and after the Mass of their choice. In house training is provided.
